Summary

TheNational Center for Institutional Diversity (NCID) (https://lsa.umich.edu/ncid) has an immediate opening for an Anti-Racism Collaborative (ARC) Program Manager.

TheAnti-Racism Collaborative (https://lsa.umich.edu/ncid/antiracism-collaborative.html) is a strategic space created to facilitate University of Michigan community engagement around research and scholarship focused on racial inequality, racial justice, and anti-racist praxis. The Anti-Racism Collaborative supports an infrastructure and coordinated set of activities to catalyze innovation in research and scholarship, and informed practice, public engagement, and action to advance anti-racist principles and organizing.

The ARC Program Manager will report to the NCID Associate Director and will be a thought partner to and work with the NCID ARC Faculty Director.

This is a 2-year term-limited position with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage a set of coordinated activities for scholar community engagement guided by research

  • Lead and administer grant initiatives in collaboration with campus partners

  • Lead the planning of meetings and events that foster community-building amongst U-M scholars engaged in anti-racism and racial justice research.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across campus to cultivate new or expand existing relationships toward deepening impact, supporting scholars, and elevating their research and scholarship

  • In collaboration with NCID communications, develop written materials such as framing papers that communicate the goals and outcomes of programmatic initiatives

  • Access and apply current research and scholarship to guide the development of impactful, transformative experiences for U-M anti-racism and racial justice scholars (i.e., faculty, staff, and students)

  • Provide managerial supervision for FTE, student, and temporary staff

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, Sociology, Psychology)

  • Conceptual and theoretical understanding of Anti-Racism as evidenced by their research and scholarship or application of Anti-Racist principles in building and or implementing initiatives.

  • Three to five years experience building relationships with scholars at all career stages (e.g., graduate student, postdoc, faculty, etc.).

  • Substantive background and understanding of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on anti-racism and racial justice in higher education.

  • Experience in leadership and strategic framing and implementing programming geared toward engaging scholarly communities, and drawing on relevant anti-racism and racial justice literature to support programmatic efforts

  • Demonstrated experience of interdisciplinary and intergenerational learning and development opportunities around scholarship and scholarship-based social action

  • Demonstrated evidence of effective approaches for translating scholarship for public engagement and impact

  • Demonstrated experience administering grants
