BAE Systems is looking for a Senior Material & Process Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for supporting industry-leading navigation products.
In our Navigation & Sensor Solutions Hardware Engineering department, you will become part of a Component & Material Engineering Team supporting all Military GPS Products.
In this role, you will:
Provide technical expertise to Engineers and Manufacturing to resolve issues regarding materials, material processes, technical challenges and root cause investigations
Responsible for analyzing new materials, reviewing data, and designing experiments to test new materials and processes
Responsible for introducing, documenting, and maintaining material processes
Provides technical support in the resolution of complex material and process issues in design and manufacturing environment
Provide technical expertise to evaluate 2nd level interconnect solder joint reliability
Work with technicians in the Material and Component Evaluation Lab using state of the art equipment to evaluate materials, components, assemblies and complete failure analysis efforts

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Must have a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
Must have 4 years of experience with a Bachelor s of Science or 2 years of experience with a Masters of Science degree
Familiar with manufacturing processes used in Electronic assemblies
Experience with Failure Analysis
US Citizen
Must be capable of obtaining a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Candidates with Bachelor s degree in Material Engineering , Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Experience with Electronics Manufacturing Materials and Processes
Expertise in several of these manufacturing processes: adhesives, potting, curing, chemicals and soldering
Familiarity with PWB Materials
Familiarity with IPC and JEDEC standards
Familiarity with 2nd level interconnect solder joint reliability
Familiarity with using lab equipment TMA, FTIR, XRF, Tensile tester, SEM, CT-Xray
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
