Meijer Food Line Leader - NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS - DAYTON, OH MARKET in Dayton, Ohio

Meijer is currently looking for a Food Line Leader. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for planning, directing and supervising team members in the day to day operation of the Food area. Developing strategies to improve customer service, driving store sales and increasing profitability. Ensuring customer needs are met, complaints are resolved effectively and efficiently and service is quick and efficient. Ensuring that all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability. Forecasting staffing needs and developing recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas of grocery. Is responsible for the selection, training and development and performance management of the Assistant Food Team Leader, Grocery Team Leaders and Produce Team Leader, Deli Team Leader, Bakery Team Leader and Meat Team Leader in non-Flagship stores.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the execution of the Merchandising plan to ensure that all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and productivity

  • Achievement of budgeted lines in Food P&Ls, including but not limited to sales, labor, shrink and margin

  • Reviewing MSPS/VPL process reports and taking appropriate action

  • Ensuring that daily work assignments are coordinated and created for the stocking team

  • Food safety compliance in all areas of Supermarket

  • Developing, planning and implementing Corporate processes to achieve goals including shrink, margin, profit, sales, labor

  • Reviewing sales goals, supply costs, stockloss/shrink and taking appropriate action

  • Handling staffing needs and scheduling

  • Supervising, developing and training staff ensuring the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training

  • Managing the performance of all team members in the Food Area to:

  • Ensure the backroom is neat and organized

  • Execute all transitions in the Food Area

  • Merchandise all not on planogram/new product

  • Ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the Grocery area is maintained to Meijer standards

  • Ensure ad set and signs are in compliance with corporate standards

  • Ensure price accuracy standards and processes are adhered to

  • Ensure food safety standards in all areas of Grocery are in compliance to corporate standard

  • Promoting succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs for the Food Team Leaders

  • All receiving and central salvage

  • Reviewing daily ad orders for completeness and accuracy

  • Walking the Food footprint multiple times to ensure that the shelves are full and abundant

  • Managing all store owned space such as endcaps and flex areas in the Food Area

  • Reviewing Customer Surveys and customer feedback from previous week or day

  • Communicating the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations

  • Mentoring and coaching the Food team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the Food area is maintained to Meijer standards

  • Spending 80% of time on sales floor communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is being delivered by organizing and maintaining the Remarkable Service Board

  • Modeling exceptional, fast and friendly customer service Promoting a safe work environment

  • Working until 11pm or later on nights schedule to close

  • Consistent and reliable attendance required

  • Other daily tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 6-10 years of related experience in the field

  • Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling

  • Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders
