Ideal Image (OMJ/MC) AutoCAD Designer (OMJ/MC) in Englewood, Ohio

Position Summary

The CAD Designer uses CAD equipment to support Engineers by preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture. Makes copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to database. Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to Engineers or Supervisor. Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with Engineering terminology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs
  • Creating and revising production drawings (detail and assembly drawings)
  • Making final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project
  • Sketching rough layout of machine and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes
  • Utilizing knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
  • Drafting detailed multiview drawings of machine and products
  • Drawing finished designs from sketches
  • Maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings
  • Communicating to Engineering, and Project Manager regarding new and revised prints
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, interpret shop drawings from various sources and included supplied information in the creation of new drawings.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, etc. to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
