The Specification Engineer will serve as the companies primary technical expert for customer-defined specifications and the extent to which the customer specifications vary from the companies standard build practices. The Specification Engineer will: study in depth the companies product design, customer requirements and performance standards as well as completing technical studies. The Specification Engineer will report to the Estimating Manager.

Responsibilities:

Manage and interpret customer specifications and requirements (literature, online, third party database, interactive media, etc.) Assess design requirements Undertake theoretical and practical research Provide technical advice regarding the suitability of materials and components; Communicate with clients / customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs Provide the Estimating Department and the Sales Department support during the pre-purchase order (RFQ response) process Complete RFQ and specification documents as required Provide the Sales Department post purchase order, specification related, support Provide the Engineering Department post purchase order, specification related, support Develop, write, submit and follow-up Deviation Approvals for specification based systems as necessary Research options and request quotes for outsourced components or custom products Convey client / customer requirements to Product Management teams Monitor specifications based system builds for non-compliance and advise Product Management teams of any issues Write reports and documentation Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly; Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications Specify system components or define modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience) Minimum 5 years experience in technical discipline Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills Analytical and detail oriented A strong team player with judgment, interpersonal, technical and communication skills Experience with delivering technical information and documents Computer literate and familiarity with Microsoft office and Autocad required. Familiarity with Solidworks a plus. Ability to participate in product development and in standards committees. Ability to work under pressure and to deadline.
