Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Structural Design Engineer – Experienced or Senior to join our Core Structure Design Group.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects related to new airplane development, contributing to the design and development of primary aircraft structures.

This role may require some travel to support our customers and provide learning experiences to enhance your career.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, integrate, and document structural and component level requirements to establish product design.

  • Utilize 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods to develop, maintain, and modify detail design and assemblies.

  • Provide product definition, technical guidance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including stress engineers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers, to ensure seamless integration of structural components throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise and recommendations to optimize designs and resolve any issues or challenges.

  • Work under minimum supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to manage tasks independently.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and investigate their potential to develop concepts for future product designs that meet projected requirements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's of Science or higher from an accredited course of study. Engineering is preferred.

  • 3+ years’ of experience in aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes, including aircraft primary structure design.

  • 2+ years’ of experience with engineering tools such as CATIA, ENOVIA, and PDM is desired.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors: Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil or select STEM degrees.

  • Ability to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers. (Willing to travel a maximum 10% of the time).

  • 3+ years’ of experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics).

  • 5+ years’ of experience in Airplane Design, Stress Analysis, Liaison Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering strongly preferred.

  • 2+ years’ of experience with Boeing 7-Series Aircraft Primary Structures is desired.

  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

Typical Education/Experience:

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor).

Experienced (Level 3):

Typically, 5 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience).

Senior (Level 4):

Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience).

Travel: 10%

Relocation:

Salary:

Experienced: $95,600 - $129,800

Senior: $121,700 - $163,500
