Career and Academic Advisor

SALARY:$52,149.59 - $58,549.76

LOCATION:Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION:  

Under the general direction of the Director of Academic Advising, Career and Academic Advisors collaborate across campus to develop and deploy innovative approaches that emphasize student development and self-authorship in the educational experience. These proactive entry and persistence experiences will include teaching students how to select and register for courses, integrating students' strengths with academic goals, and promoting self-authorship in selecting, following, and completing their program. This position will deliver advising services utilizing dynamic, engaging, and interactive formats. This is a full time exempt position. 

The Career and Academic Advisor will work closely with all Student Services departments, including (but not limited to):  Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Credentials and Evaluations, Testing and Assessment, Outreach, Career Action Center, Veterans Resource Center, Athletics, Counseling and Resource Center, Services for Students with Disabilities. This role will also work closely with academic and instructional departments, with a strong emphasis on collaborative co-advising with faculty and program advisors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Review student information in Advisor Center to ensure smooth registration process

Record detailed and accurate student notes, including current/identified data points

Communicate with students via in-person, email, phone, and virtual modalities.

Create Academic Plans based on a program of study and in accordance to funding requirements.

Provide culturally competent holistic advising and referrals to resources across campus.

Assist students in navigating policies and procedures, inclusive of SAP processes, appeals, petitions, deadlines, and impacts of enrollment changes.

Conduct unofficial transcript evaluations.

Interpret official transfer evaluations to determine course planning.

Review and update placements (when applicable under Advising).

Guide students in career exploration.

Help students navigate transfer steps, utilizing knowledge regarding agreements, articulations, and partnerships.
