Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency Pharmacy Tech (Pipeline) Hiring Incentive in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Hennepin Healthcare is currently seekingPharmacy Techsto join our busy Pharmacy Departments.

Opportunities will include a variety of schedules and shifts including, part-time and full time positions with benefits for primarily day/evening rotating shifts, rotating weekend and holidays. Some openings have bilingual requirements.

This posting is a talent pipeline requisition to field interested applicants for consideration for any approved openings in the departments.

Asign-on bonusis available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible). One year (or other timeframe) work commitment required. SUMMARY Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES * Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel * Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies * Prepackages, prepares, labels and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist * Maintains cash registers, credit card machines and reporting for cash transactions * Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office * Bills and credits patient medications * Stocks inventory in Pharmacy * Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications * Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled * Files prescriptions and reports * Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion * Enters outpatient prescriptions * Obtains and records patient drug histories * Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate * Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight * Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order * Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed * Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations and symbols * Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs * Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations * Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications * Assist with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training

Minimum Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED * Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240 hour employer based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience * Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board * PTCB or ExPhT certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee Preferred Qualifications: * Computer skills * Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems * Insurance and Billing Experience Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: * Ability to communicate with other employees and public * Possess strong interpersonal skills; be a team player, and promote positive team environment * Excellent customer service skills * Demonstrate good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possess the ability to prioritize multiple tasks * Ability to use a computer and associated programs * Ability to understand oral and written instructions * Ability to learn and apply pharmacy procedures and interpret prescriptions * Ability to apply basic math skills * Some skill in record keeping * Ability to use computer effectively
