Job Summary

The Plant Controller is responsible for the planning, control and evaluation of all accounting and finance functions for Noblesville manufacturing operations. This position is a leader of Helmer and contributes significantly to the financial direction of the plant and the supporting tactical initiatives to develop and monitor related performance initiatives. Additionally, this position is accountable for driving financial processes across the organization creating collaborative thinking as well as maintain a culture of proactive compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Enforce, promote and comply with workplace safety procedures for self and Helmer employees.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

• Provide direction of all financial functions.

• Works with LSS Finance Leaders and Helmer business leaders to develop long range strategic plans.

• Contributes to development of organizational strategic plans and policies by providing financial direction and contributing broader strategic and operating judgement and ideas.

• Provide leadership, coaching, training and feedback to direct reports; define expectations, monitor and evaluate performance, drive accountability and recognition.

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE FUNCTION

• Develop, monitor/control and report on Annual Operating Plan (AOP) all related financial forecasts for capital, balance sheet and cash flow ensuring they are consistent with organizational goals.

• Drive monthly, quarterly and annual General Ledger control (closing) process according to US GAAP including reporting into ORACLE and ARCS reconciliations.

• Monitor and report financial performance, analyze results, investigate variances and unusual items; and evaluate their effect on operations

• Support management decision making through preparation and analysis of financial reports.

• Broad oversight of working capital management (AP/AR) processes.

• Broad oversight of product cost accounting – standard cost maintenance through analysis of material, labor and overhead absorption for configure-to-order medical/lab manufacturing environment.

• Drive accounting system and process improvement activity including support of Operational Excellence initiatives.

COMPLIANCE (Trane Corporate Relationships)

• Develop and maintain relationships with Trane Technologies Corporate Treasury.

• Interface with Trane Technolgoes tax team for tax planning and reporting purposes.

• Interface with Trane Technologies insurance and risk management activities.

• Lead SOX compliance activities for Helmer by interfacing with Trane Technologies corporate.

• Oversee Sales and Use Tax compliance and reporting

Requirements

Relative Work Experience: 10+years’ work experience in management accounting role with plant controlling experience.

Education: BS degree in Accounting with MBA preferred.

Certifications / Licenses: CPA or CMA

Computer Systems / Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (accounting software experience preferred). Enterprise financial modules (of ERP) and Statistical analysis software proficiency preferred.

Key Competencies:

• Excellent systems capabilities (Oracle, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

• Willing to offer assistance proactively; ensure timely response to requests; ability to support groups of customers (internal/external) with diverse needs and approaches.

• Ability to lead, motivate and develop direct reports for current and future roles.

• Ability to collect and analyze data and trends, interpret results and project logical forecasts.
