Title:Quality Improvement Specialist $52,000 - $70,000 / Posted Thru: 11-9-23

Location:  Remote/Virtual

Purpose:This position provides independent and complex consultation, training, coaching and technical support for quality improvement-focused projects within the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC). The QI Specialist is responsible for autonomously designing and implementing activities related to evidence-based, data driven, continuous quality improvement projects with public health partners and providers. The Quality Improvement Specialist provides tailored support across the lifespan of projects, from development to implementation and reporting, including internal support within project teams and communication and support to external partners.

This position involves a high level of interaction with a variety of partners and requires a deep, broad, and flexible understanding of methods, tools, and techniques related to formal quality improvement, including the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle, the IHI Breakthrough Series Collaborative Model and tools for organizing teams and improvement efforts, setting goals, examining current process, measuring and working with data, root cause analysis, and so forth. The Quality Improvement Specialist will foster collaborative relationships and be involved in supporting quality improvement efforts through training and coaching, facilitating group processes, providing tailored technical assistance, and supporting a variety of improvement initiatives. The position requires a dynamic individual with strong facilitation and coaching skills who will collaborate with staff, external partners, and clients. Staff operating at the more advanced levels of this position are required to be self-driven, organized, autonomous, well-versed in quality improvement methods, tools, and techniques, and able to multitask at a high level regularly working with competing deadlines. Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and Implementation of Project Activities Independently provides specialized and comprehensive support to quality improvement-focused projects and related partners. Develop and facilitate customized quality improvement training and provide one-on-one team coaching tailored to client, partner, and team needs. Develop original materials to support quality improvement learning collaboratives, facilitate collaborative learning sessions, action period gatherings, and activities, and provide tailored, monthly coaching to participating teams. Apply equity-focused assessment, planning, facilitation, quality improvement, and other frameworks within community-based settings from start-up to closeout, including project design, implementation, ongoing reporting, final reporting, and dissemination. Translate complex standards, methods, and frameworks into actionable and plain language presentations and tools to facilitate implementation for public health agencies. Autonomously supports clients and partners in designing engagement strategies for improvement focused efforts that are inclusive, meaningful, and meet the goals and objectives of the work as defined by partners and their funders. Design and implement data collection activities that support planning and improvement efforts and center equity. This includes developing measures, designing basic data collection plans/protocols/instruments, compiling basic data, and accessing existing public health data. Organize data and other sources of information to support making meaning, centering equity, identifying needs and assets, assessing opportunities for improvement, and identifying priorities.
