Work with the leader in the power industry! Our Energy Technology Team in Waukesha has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Electrical Technician. This person will be responsible for planning and execution of electrical and reliability tests on our Clean Energy products. These products include inverters, battery storage systems, load management modules and other IoT devices.

Works under general supervision while performing routine, non-routine assignments, and advanced test with some technical direction from others to solve problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and construct test fixtures, wire and install test equipment, and perform advanced electrical tests.

  • Plan, execute and maintain long term reliability test setup, including environmental chambers, power moving equipment in addition to the units under test.

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root cause, and collaborate on the development of design solutions.

  • Install various sensors, probes, and data acquisition systems.

  • Operate oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, power supplies, and other electronic equipment.

  • Install various sensors, probes, and data acquisition systems.

  • Operate oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, power supplies, and other electronic equipment.

  • Maintain test-related documentation in database environment.

  • Analyze test data and prepare formal and informal test reports.

  • Update and develop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the Engineering Lab.

  • Facilitate the labeling, tracking, and calibration of test equipment.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in an electrical/electronics lab environment.

  • Experience working with complex electronic devices.

  • Experience working with data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and DC power supplies.

  • Expert level Understanding and experience with various wiring methods and guidelines.

  • Experience documenting test results and writing clear and concise test reports.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible, and highly motivated to learn.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high voltage systems (500V DC and 480V AC).

  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex components and systems. (Inverter, Li-ion battery modules, PV links, Transfer switches). Experience working with various test equipment, DMM, Current Clamps, Data Acquisition Systems, Oscilloscopes, and DC power supplies.

  • Understanding of process for soldering surface mount and through hole components

  • Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs as related to product design and development.

  • Understanding of residential wiring

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate colors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies.
